A native Southern Californian, Brittney Allen is a flutist and educator based out of Washington, D.C. Ms. Allen has obtained her B.M. and M.M. (both in Music Education) from Howard University under the tutelage of Dr. Sais Kamalidiin. Other instructors include Norman Brentley of the United States Army Band (Pershing’s Own), Lori Bell of San Diego State University, and Valerie Coleman: founder, composer, and current flutist of Imani Winds. In addition to studying with the flutists aforementioned, Brittney Allen has performed alongside Deepak Ram, Holly Hoffman, Ali Ryerson, Nicole Mitchell, and James Spaulding. An active educator and freelancer.

Most recently, Ms. Allen has performed as first flutist with the 2016 Colour of Music Festival in Charleston, S.C., Brittney Allen actively seeks opportunities to develop her musicianship and skill-set as an educator (Ms. Allen actively performed and participated as a part of Imani Wind’s 2015 Chamber Music Festival and Project Trio’s 2016 Teacher Training Workshop). Currently, Ms. Allen teaches flute and general music as well as performs within the Washington, D.C. metro area.
